Gigondas' slightly higher, cooler vineyards often lend a touch of minerality to the generosity of southern Rhône reds, and this is one that showcases that beautifully. It's 80% Grenache, supported by equal measures of Syrah and Mourvèdre, fermented in concrete vats and aged for 12 months in French oak. On the nose, there's a lovely waft of garrigue with a subtle minty lift. The palate is rich and spicy, brimming with intense bramble fruit, a whisper of plain chocolate, and smooth, ripe tannins. Silky and balanced, it manages to be big and bold and rather moreish without overdoing it.
