OPENING HOURS 10.00 to 5.30 TUESDAY TO SATURDAY.

A big hello to you all and hope you are enjoying the Summer. We know many of you have managed to get a holiday abroad without having to book PCR tests and complete forms! That makes a refreshing change! We hope you have enjoyed a break or are looking forward to one!

Our on-line shop is open!

We did it! We went live at the end of last week and are really pleased (even if we do say so ourselves) with how the website looks. You can do click and collect, with no minimum order. We have cast the net a little wider for delivery, broadly a 15 mile radius of Crowborough and post code specific. Minimum order to qualify for delivery is £50 and comes with a delivery charge. Anything over £100 is delivered free of charge. Whilst we still love seeing our customers and encourage you to pop into the shop, take a look at the new site www.alteuswines.co.uk

Long Man beer now available in cans

Long Man Brewery, based just outside Alfriston, has just released 2 new lines in can. We already stock their bottled American Pale, Long Blonde and Old Man. The new additions are the Twenty12, a citrus pale ale (4.6%) and Nine80, a full bodied tropical IPA (5.4%). Definitely worth a try!

Our next tasting

Our next tasting is Thursday 8th September. We are doing a blind tasting this time around. If you are open to trying different styles of wines without any pre-conceptions then this is the event for you. It’s a really relaxed and fun evening. You don’t need to know anything about wine either, so just bring yourself and an open mind! Tickets are £15 per person and include discount on the night as well as a few nibbles and 5 wines to try. As well as buying tickets over the phone or in the shop, you can now buy on-line, by clicking on the Events page on the home screen.

Wine recommendations for August

We couldn’t miss sharing details of a fantastic Sparkling wine from The Napa Valley, USA. Domaine Carneros is a serious Sparkling wine. This one is a 2017 vintage. It’s been made in the same method as Champagne and spent 3 years ageing in bottle before release. The grapes in this are Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. It is a very elegant wine and made under the supervision of one of the most famous Champagne Houses, Taittinger. A fabulous Champagne alternative and well-priced at £26.95, so if you have reasons to celebrate this will hit the spot!

Our second recommendation this month is a Pinotage from South Africa. Pinotage is the result of Pinot Noir and Cinsault vines being crossed to make this grape variety, which was born in South Africa. It is not widely grown outside of South Africa. The wine produced is typically dark ripe fruit, with a slightly sweet spice and smoky, earthy finish. The Kleine Zalze is a fantastic example of this and it is a great BBQ wine. It is also fabulous value at £11.49.
