OPENING HOURS 10.00 to 5.30 TUESDAY TO SATURDAY.

Here we are in March and Spring has yet to make an appearance!! We had a great tasting event at the start of the month, pairing some lovely wines with cheese! The Barros 10 year Tawny Port was a real hit, as was the Genetie Burgundian Chardonnay……a revelation to some of our guests who were adamant ‘they don’t do Chardonnay!’

Since then we had a short trip to Iceland for a good friend’s 50th birthday celebration. What a fabulous place Iceland is, and we were lucky to see those infamous Northern Lights. It’s certainly too cold to be wine making country though!!! Industrious as ever, we managed to hunt down some decent bottles to enjoy whilst we were there! Would you expect anything less of us!?!

Now we are back we are getting ready for one of the most popular events of the year (with the exception of Christmas). Our Grand Spring Tasting is an annual event where we get to showcase some of the new lines we have been seeking out. It’s the time of year when we turn over a significant number of wines to keep the range interesting and offering good value.

Grand Spring Tasting – Fri 24th & Sat 25th March

Just like Christmas, this event is free of charge and you can drop in to try as many of the wines as you like. We will have around 12 to 15 wines on show this time. Many of them will be new lines, so it’s a great opportunity to try some out before buying. With Easter and a flurry of Bank Holidays coming up there will no doubt be friends and family get togethers coming up, so drop in to sample some great wines.

We will run the tasting on the afternoon of Friday 24th from 1pm and then again on Saturday 25th from 10am – 4pm. Not tickets required so just drop in and grab a glass and a tasting sheet and enjoy!

Easter Opening Hours

We can’t believe that we are only 3 weeks away from the Easter Holidays! Wouldn’t it be great if it is a sunny weekend, and we get some warm spring sunshine! Maybe we will even get to dust off the BBQ!

Our opening hours over the Easter weekend will be:

Good Friday (7th)           10am – 4pm

Easter Saturday (8th)    10am – 5.30pm

Easter Sunday (9th)       Closed

Easter Monday (10th)   Closed

Wine Recommendations

T’s recommendation this month is a brand new wine we have in. It’s the San Marzano ‘Timo’ Vermentino. This white wine from the southern region of Italy is a lovely mineral wine. It’s delicate with white floral aromas and herbal notes of rosemary and thyme. It’s really refreshing and very easy drinking! It’s £13.95.

Al has also headed to Italy for his recommendation this month. Another new line in, this time from the Emilia-Romagna region….basically mid-way between Florence and Venice! The Umberto Cesari ‘Moma’ is a blend of Sangiovese and late harvested Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a great wine with a smooth and velvety finish. You’ll get rich plums and sweet herbaceous notes. The label is really classy too! It’s £17.95
