OPENING HOURS 10.00 to 5.30 TUESDAY TO SATURDAY.

We hope this finds you well and that you enjoyed the recent Bank Holiday weekend! This week sees lots of people back to work and back to school, but let’s hope the weather stays nice for a little bit longer before those Autumnal nights draw in!!

We’re taking a little break!

After a really busy Summer, we are going to sneak off for a little break! We are heading back to Cornwall to chill for a few days and enjoy some walks and picnics on the beach! As a result WE WILL BE CLOSED ON TUESDAY 13TH AND WEDNESDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER. We are open as normal from the Thursday 15th. Click and Collect won’t be available on these days, but any orders placed will be prepared on the Thursday.

Our next tasting

This Thursday we are hosting our Blind Tasting and it is sold out. It will be a fun evening, with some really super wines for our guests to try! It is also a great way for us to finish off before we head away.

We are going to do one more themed Tasting Event on Thursday 20th October. This will be the last one of 2022, as we turn our minds to Christmas! This one will be Autumnal Reds, which we thought was timely given the time of year and Halloween and Bonfire night upon us! Tickets are £15 per person and include discount on the night as well as a few nibbles and 5 wines to try. As well as buying tickets over the phone or in the shop, you can now buy on-line, by clicking on the Events page on the home screen. www.alteuswines.co.uk

Save the date! Grand Christmas Tasting!

We love hosting the Christmas Tasting. It is such a fun weekend and with typically 10-12 wines to try, it’s one to leave the car at home for!! This year it will take place on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November. More details to follow

Wine recommendations for September

It’s been a while since we have had a new Rioja in and we have found a real gem! The Qvinto Arrio Crianza is organically farmed at Bodegas Navarrsotillo in Rioja Baja. It is aged for at least 12 months in American and French oak barrels. Its ripe red fruity aromas combine perfectly with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and sweet spices. This is the perfect wine for a grilled steak and it’s £15.95.

We know not everyone loves Chardonnay, but this is a lively, crisp one with elderflower and lime blossom aromas, almond biscotti and light oak on the palate. Grown from pure limestone soils with an extremely high mineral content, this wine has a mouth-watering, lingering finish. There are undoubtedly shades of Burgundy here. A cracking value Chardonnay at £13.95

Take care for now and we will see you soon!
