OPENING HOURS 10.00 to 5.30 TUESDAY TO SATURDAY.

We hope you are having a good week! So, we are through January and this February sunshine has been glorious so far! The evenings are noticeably lighter as well, so hopefully Spring is on its way!! Hooray! We have our first tasting event of 2023 this week, celebrating wines from The Americas. This event sold out within 24 hours, so we thought we needed to release another date sooner rather than later! So………

Our next tasting is Thursday 2nd March

We will be pairing a fabulous selection of cheese with some quality wines, explaining how certain styles of wines work well with particular cheeses.

We will walk you through 5 lovely wines and you can buy any wine on the night with a 5% discount. Tickets are £15 per head. You can order on-line by searching for ‘Tasting’ in the product search. Places are limited to a maximum of 20 so don’t delay securing your place!

New Lines on their way!

This is the time of year when we start to source new lines, ready for a refresh of the range. These are currently being sourced and tasted (that’s the tough part of the job) and we are aiming for about 25-30 new lines. Some of these will be on show at our Grand Spring Tasting, which is a free event. The date will be announced in the next few weeks, but likely to be late March.

Keep an eye on Instagram and the wine wall in the shop for new lines as they arrive!

Don’t forget you can also see all our wines on-line and can make use of the Click & Collect service, or local delivery.

Our wine recommendation for the month

As Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, we will be sharing the cooking on 14th and preparing something delicious.

Al will be doing the starter this time around. He is going to pan fry scallops with some nice chorizo and pea puree. He has selected the new Albarino we recently started stocking. La Val Finca Arantei is floral, with stone fruits, a touch of spice and a zesty minerality. It’s ideal with seafood and is £15.49

T is on for the main course is preparing a cottage pie. Simple as it sounds, we found a lovely recipe recently and it’s a new favourite in our household. It has a lovely rich sauce and the secret ingredient is ketchup! The Rippa Dorii Ribera del Douro Crianza is the wine we will enjoy with that. It’s a fantastic Spanish red, made from Tempranillo grapes. It’s been ageing in oak barrels for 12 months, so has lovely toasty notes, as well as brambles and sweet spice. It’s just £13.95 and we think it delivers on quality and value.

That’s it from us for now. We hope to see you soon and watch out for details of the Grand Spring Tasting in the coming weeks!
