Our last news letter was only 5 weeks ago and suddenly we are heading into Half Term, Halloween and Bonfire night! How did that happen?? We hope everyone is keeping well, despite it being a challenging time for many people given the cost of living increasing. It’s the thing we are most mindful of and keeps us extra focused on ensuring the wines we have in the shop are great quality at sensible prices. If you want something really special then we have plenty to offer, but we intend to cater for all budgets and that’s why over 50% of the wines in the shop remain under £15. And on that note……..

We have 15 new wines in stock!

We have some absolute crackers arrive in the last couple of weeks, for those coming to our Autumnal Reds tasting on Thursday 20^th you will have the pleasure of trying some of them.

To give you an idea of some the new ones in, we have:

Bon Courage Estate Blend from South Africa. This is a cabernet sauvignon/shiraz blend. It’s got a beautiful nose, soft oak and lovely black fruits. A great medium bodied Autumnal red for £13.95

Rippa del Duero Roble from Spain. This tempranillo (same grape used to produce Rioja) has lovely aromas of cassis, redcurrant and forest fruits. A good use of oak for a toasty finish. It’s stunning value at £11.95

We then have a duo from Burgundy that are at a special introductory offer:

Genetie Bourgogne Chardonnay ‘Illumnie’ is a classic Burgundy wine. Fine, buttery, with subtle oak and underlying minerality and citrus notes. It’s not easy to find wines at this price point from Burgundy, so worth a try at £13.95

Genetie Bourgogne Pinot Noir ‘Illumnie’ is very approachable. It has soft berries and wild strawberry on the nose (in fact you could just sit with your nose in the glass it smells so good!). It’s a bright and elegant wine and again fantastic value for Burgundy at £15.95.

Harvey’s of Lewes

We have always been proud to stock the range of beers from Harvey’s. They recently started brewing the Wharf IPA so that is now in stock and dare we mention the Christmas Ale, which is also popular (all year round to be fair!). For those of you who make your Christmas cake or pudding with a bit of Stout, we have the Sweet Sussex and Imperial Extra Double Stouts in stock!  The Sussex Best Mini-kegs are in all year round and we will have the Old Ale Mini-kegs in closer to Christmas.

As we turn to thinking about Christmas, our gift packs are now in stock and make a great present for just £10.95. Two bottles of Best or Old with a Harvey’s pint glass.

Not long now until the Grand Christmas Tasting!

We are busy building the list of wines we will unleash on you for the Christmas Tasting. This is our flagship tasting of the year and such a fun weekend. It’s one to leave the car at home for, as there are going to be over 15 wines to sample!! This year it will take place on Friday 25^th (we will stay open a little later that day) and Saturday 26^th November. No need to book. You just arrive, we hand you a glass and tasting notes and off you go!
